This route concerns non-EU nationals working remotely. Employees work for overseas businesses; self-employed professionals may undertake Spanish client work within the 20% limit.

Relevant qualifications or at least three years of experience, a relationship of at least three months and at least one year of genuine company activity are assessed. A passport and criminal record alone are insufficient.

The thresholds use 200% of SMI for the applicant, an additional 75% for the first relative and 25% for each further relative. Check current figures and payment periods. Social security and healthcare arrangements require a separate review.

Prepare employment or client evidence, remote-work permission, company records, qualifications and income documents. Check criminal-record, translation and apostille requirements with the responsible consulate. Consular visas and in-country applications while legally present differ; maximum durations are normally one and three years respectively, subject to the permitted work period.
